Job Summary

This posting will be used to fill one Medical Records Technician 2 position. This position may be filled as either full-time or part-time and the work location will determined by the top candidate selected.

This position will assist with the management of medical and demographic data submitted to the Minnesota Cancer Reporting System (MCRS) by processing incoming electronic and paper data, identifying non-reportable cases, coding medical diagnoses, reviewing coding of medical diagnosis, identifying discrepancies in coding and abstracting pertinent information. This position will code the site, histology, behavior, laterality, grade, demographic and facility information for each pathology report coded into the MCRS database.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Certification by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) in one of the following:
  • Accredited Record Technician (ART)
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • Registered Record Administrator (RRA)
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience coding cancer cases using ICD-0.
Additional Requirements
Must successfully pass a background check.
