Responsibilities

Basic Purpose

Leads, motivates, and directs the efforts of project management and other staff responsible for developing and executing corporate strategic initiatives or major projects. Ensures the safe, timely and economic completion of major projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Directs development of project plans, including project scope, cost estimates, schedule, and cash flow. Supports development, approval, and administration of business cases and applicable ten-year plan. Directs execution of project plans upon approval. Coordinates acquisition of human resources, equipment, material, permits, land, and land rights. Monitors and controls project plans, including safety, scope, cost, schedule, cash flow, quality, and risk. Measures and communicates project performance to customers and stakeholders. Manages changes to the project plan. Ensures all project objectives are achieved. Coordinates project close-out, including final acceptance of project deliverables; resolution of claims; transfer of ownership; status of project id; project accounting audit and true-up; and final project report.

Cultivates and fosters a team environment. Develops and maintains highly motivated and engaged staff. Establishes individual and department performance goals aligned with corporate goals. Monitors and ensures timely completion of individual and department goals.

Establishes and maintains departmental operating and capital budgets. Ensures attainment of budgets.

Ensures working relationships with internal and external customers. Works with customers and stakeholders to develop, evaluate and select preferred project alternatives. Directs development and execution of applicable agreements.

Provides written and oral testimony in support of applicable legal, legislative, and regulatory proceedings.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company.

Monitors and enforces all compliance requirements for area of responsibility.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in engineering or related technical field and 7 years of utility experience including 3 years of project management experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Utility engineering practices with an emphasis on transmission and substation design.
  • Critical path method scheduling; work breakdown structure; utility accounting practices; economic analysis.
  • Company policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Construction methods; contract administration; equipment specifications; property rights; and local, state and federal permitting.

Demonstrated skills such as:

  • Analytical, interpersonal and communication
  • Directing, coordinating, and reviewing the work of multi-discipline project teams
  • Planning, time management, decision making, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Equipment and Applications
Personal computers, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. No special physical demands required. Some overnight travel required.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $133,000 (Min) to $156,500 (Mid); Up to 20% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
