The Denver Sheriff Department is the largest Sheriff Department agency in the state of Colorado and is comprised of many divisions and diverse operations with over 1000 uniformed and non-uniformed staff members. These operations include two separate jails, security for the District and County court systems, state inmate transportation, extradition duties, fugitive and K-9 units and security at DenverHealth Medical Center.

The Denver Sheriff Department is looking to fill multiple Property Technician roles.

Denver Sheriff Department is a 24 hour operation; this position requires shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays.

This position is primarily located at the Van Cise-Simonet Detention Center at 490 W Colfax Ave. Denver, CO 80202.

Successful candidates must complete and pass a background investigation that encompasses the applicant's employment and criminal history.

Job responsibilities will include:
  • Retrieves inmate property from Deputies and stores in appropriate bins according to pre-set property tags.
  • Retrieves inmate property from bins upon release and organizes it in staging area.
  • Enters and deletes property information into the Jail Management System.
  • Tags and secures each item and places in the proper property room and shelf.
  • Retrieves evidence from the property room for inmates upon release
  • Provides the public with general and/or explanatory information, answers questions, and resolves problems.
  • Composes correspondence to respond to written inquiries from the public and police personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Experience Requirement: One (1) year of work experience in evidence handling or in the law enforcement field.
  • Education & Experience Equivalency: One year of college education (equal to 24 semester hours) may be substituted for the one year of work experience requirement.
