Overview

The Accounts Payable Specialist works closely with vendors/departments to ensure timely and accurate payment processing. This position will also be responsible for working open items including payment discrepancies or other inquires.



Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparing invoices and cutting check runs
• Responsible for processing invoices through workflow system
• Responsible for helping with indexing if needed
• Responsible for processing and reconciling claims check runs weekly
• Responsible for reconciling statements and processing invoices for vendors
• Responsible for new vendor set up
• Scanning and Filing
• Responsible for telephone inquiries and emails with vendors and departments with regard to accounts payable issued
• Assist accounting with any projects
• Assist with any department adhoc projects
• Cross train with other employees to assist will all daily functions in the accounts payable department



Qualifications

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be accurate, detail oriented and organized
• Good problem-solving skills
• Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Must be able to understand complex chart of accounts
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
• Must be able to work in a team environment
Education and Experience
• Required High School Diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: Bachelors Degree or accounting related experience
• Preferred: 1 – 3 years’ experience working in accounts payable
• Preferred: Transportation, Logistics, and/or supply chain experience
• TMT, GP, and/or AS400 Experience Preferred

Covenant’s compensation philosophy’s intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company. The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.
Pay Range: $34,140.15 - $50,422.38
Pay Grade: 4
