Society Insurance is seeking a Senior Field Claims Representative (Bodily Injury Focused) to join our Property, Auto, and Liability (PAL) Claims team. This position will independently resolve large and complex bodily injury claims by performing field investigations; determining and documenting loss; and negotiating out-of-court settlements.

About the Role

  • Settles large and significantly complex claims by determining insurance carrier’s liability; reaching agreement with claimant according to policy provisions and authority level; handling mediations, arbitrations, and subrogation within authority level.
  • Determines coverage by meeting with insureds; securing evidence; inspecting losses; investigating incidents; interpreting policy coverages; explaining coverages; and determining subrogation.
  • Maintains expertise in a specified line(s) of business through attending training courses and participating in continued education coursework/classes.
  • May direct defense attorney’s activity on litigated files; develops joint plan; reviews billing of attorney; attends mediations and trials as necessary.
  • Provides departmental support by mentoring and training new/current claims representatives as necessary.
  • Completes claims by obtaining, providing, and exchanging information and agreements with attorneys, health care providers and other third parties.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing claim information.
  • Resolves questionable claims through investigations, comparing claims information with evidence.
  • Provides claims information by documenting claims transactions of assigned files in compliance with company and state requirements; preparing loss development reports.
  • Assists home office adjusters on claims in coverage territories.
  • Ensures company guidelines and procedures are followed by overseeing independent adjusters during investigations; overseeing attorneys in the handling of discovery and settlement.

What it Will Take

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of experience handling complex bodily injury claims OR 10+ years of experience handling complex bodily injury claims.
  • Proficiency in liability/casualty claims demonstrated through knowledge and experience in insurance policies and coverage, claim payment procedures, insurance regulations, and legal terminology.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain proper licensing prior to handling a state that requires it.
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Professional insurance designations highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology highly desirable.
