Qualifications

RS&H is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer to join our Infrastructure Practice in our Timonium, MD office working on a hybrid schedule!

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and collaborative Transportation Engineer to join our rapidly growing Baltimore area office. The ideal candidate will have experience with the various stages of transportation and project planning, including feasibility and NEPA studies. This role will include performing preliminary engineering and planning activities and/or studies such as environmental and engineering inventories, purpose and need assessments, multi-modal evaluations, logical termini/independent utility analyses, engineering feasibility and transportation planning studies, and alternatives analyses. This position offers tremendous potential for growth and the opportunity to work with a team of outstanding multi-disciplinary professionals serving local, state and federal clients in Maryland and the mid-Atlantic region.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as a professional engineering discipline lead on multimodal transportation engineering and planning projects of varying size and scope
  • Prepares complete project documents, analysis, and reports
  • Performs project tasks with attention to detail while adhering to project schedules and ensuring overall quality management
  • Facilitates coordination with a diverse project team, including assisting with development of meeting and presentation materials, and/or client communications.
  • Maintains professional registration and licensure by ensuring conformance with professional, ethical, educational, and discipline practice requirements.
  • Remains knowledgeable of all applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances that are pertinent to respective discipline
  • May provide technical guidance to entry/junior-level staff and review work for technical accuracy
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and within scope of practice

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program
  • Maryland Professional Engineering (PE) registration
  • 4+ years of progressive leadership experience in Transportation Planning and Preliminary Engineering
  • Experience in a project management role on transportation planning projects of varying complexity and on-call contracts
  • Thorough knowledge of Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA), Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA), local municipality, and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) policies and procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro; additionally, proficiency with Esri web-based mapping software preferred
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design programs, such as Adobe Illustrator, preferred but not required
  • Advanced level of verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate teamwork and ability to build relationships with others
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail along with overall quality control and schedule management
  • Business acumen and facilitation skills working with a broad set of clients, stakeholders and members of the public
