Job Summary

This position leads the administration of the We Are Water MN program and assists with other education programs in the Resource Management and Assistance Division. This position improves the environmental literacy of Minnesotans; enhances the public's awareness and understanding of the educational goals for the agency; influences program participant's attitudes and behaviors to foster public interest in protecting, conserving, and improving the environments we live in; and provides audiences with user-friendly and consistent information about the agency's work on healthy air, sustainable lands, clean water and a better climate.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Two years advanced professional experience in an environmental, regulatory or assistance program. Experience related to leading and administering environmental projects or programs from initiation through conclusion. Advanced professional experience includes a demonstrated progressive level of responsibility and leadership experience, as well as experience working with federal and state environmental programs. Demonstrated experience leading a variety of projects and teams. (Advanced professional-level experience is equivalent to Planner Senior State, Environmental Specialist 3, State Program Administrator Senior or equivalent level work).

Demonstrated experience organizing projects to ensure successful completion.

Knowledge of pollution prevention strategies and the ability to implement them.

Experience in communicating information with broad audiences.

Leading and directing a variety of projects and teams.

Possess a valid Driver's license (see additional requirements).

Preferred Qualifications

Broad knowledge of environmental education approaches and learning theories.

Knowledge of the We Are Water MN program.

Experience with planning staffing and managing volunteers for large events or venues.

Experience creating and managing timelines and workplans for contractors and project teams.

Experience working in outreach and engagement in the environmental or related field.

Experience with hands-on exhibit concept and content development.

Experience building strong relationships and a network of private and public sector partners for collaboration on a project or program.

Experience evaluating education programs.

Strong writing skills.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or moving light objects frequently. A job is in this category may require maintaining a stationary position to a significant degree or may involve a certain amount of moving necessary in carrying out job duties.

Additional Requirements

A driver's license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver's License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver's license AND a satisfactory DLR check.

Requires a Class D driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
