Job Description
Chronicle Heritage is hiring a Team Lead with experience serving as a Senior Archaeologist or Project Manager to assist Chronicle Heritage's business operations for our New Mexico office. The successful candidate will be an expert in archaeology, architectural history, or history and will spearhead the development and management of new projects, serve clients, manage personnel, conduct quality assurance and quality control, and drive the success of the office's operations. The successful candidate will manage upper level technical staff under the supervision of the Southwest Regional Principal to navigate federal, tribal, state, and municipal ordinances for our clients.

Schedule:Monday–Friday, normal business hours
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee or delegate the day-to-day workflow of office or program personnel
  • Identify key staffing needs for the office/program in the short- and long-term and leads recruitment efforts
  • Manage all aspects of projects and implementation processes to achieve successful completion of all projects
  • Supervise, guide, and direct team members to ensure compliance with set standards, procedures, and policies and ensure the team meets their utilization goals
  • Develop internal communication strategies to ensure communication between various departments within the organization
  • Support business development efforts in New Mexico
  • Serve as a primary supervisor to senior, associate, and staff level technical specialists
  • Serve as a mentor on technical issues, regulatory matters, and CRM business practices
  • Help develop and guide the pursuit of individual goals and training opportunities, advancing each staff member's knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations of direct reports; provide recommendations to the Office Principal or Regional Principal for promotion and salary adjustments, as appropriate
  • Be available and approachable to direct reports and peers
  • Review technical reports as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in anthropology, archaeology, architectural history, history or a closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience within an environmental, engineering, or cultural consulting firm
  • Experience serving as a Project Manager and Principal Investigator on survey, testing, and data recovery projects
Preferred Skills
  • Listed on the New Mexico SHPO Directory or permitted in more than one BLM region within New Mexico.
  • Ability to manage projects and teams as a leader and/or supervisor
  • Knowledge of cultural resource management and relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to field of expertise
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to speak and write effectively
  • Excellent organization, schedule, and budget management skills
  • Experience preparing various technical reports under various regulatory requirements in California
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications
