Position Overview

Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production line(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. MRP knowledge is quite critical to manage material flow and availability. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operations of the production function. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages the facility's Production line(s), Facilitators, Team Leaders and Associates to ensure production schedules are met in accordance with quality and cost requirements while maintaining a safe and injury free workplace.
  • Ensures that all machinery, tooling, methods and processes are functional and capable of producing our products in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Establish, communicate, and execute measurable production objectives in support of Business Unit strategies.
  • Manage parts/material from Stockroom to the floor to build per the BOM.
  • Ensure work instructions are correct per the drawing, and able to edit/write work instruction.
  • Able to coach/train assemblers to build per print.
  • Plans, directs and implements production operations to meet prescribed productivity and quality goals and assure adherence with production schedules.
  • Anticipates problem issues before they arise and takes corrective action.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of production cost standards.
  • May participate in sales team to better understand and meet customer needs.
  • Promotes adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Coaches the production team towards common objectives.
  • Applies sound motivational and correctional techniques, including employee counseling and disciplinary actions and recognitions for good work.
  • Develops and conducts effective employee training programs.
  • Develops and analyzes cost and quality data using SPC to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Manages team members effectiveness, job satisfaction, career development, performance evaluations, training, etc.
  • Explains company policies and regulations to subordinates, maintains effective personnel relationships, and recommends changes in employee status.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities when required.

Qualifications/Competencies:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Strong technical knowledge of reading drawing.
  • Strong MRP knowledge.
  • Good understanding of ISO and SPC and associated tools.
  • Must possess strong planning skills with ability to analyze trends and determine corrective actions.
  • Must be a self-starter, have proven leadership skills and be a proactive team player.
  • Must be able to physically move throughout the facility, including climbing multiple flights of stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks and tight access areas.
  • Must be able to work in a plant environment being exposed to dust, high noise levels, extreme temperature and humidity fluctuations, and wet operating work conditions.
  • Must be proficient with the following: Lean Manufacturing Techniques, Work Cells, kanban systems and SPC.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and four years of job-related experience.
