Position Details
The University of South Alabama Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine is seeking a medical
educator with expertise in teaching bioethics and humanities, for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate Professor, or Professor.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Ph.D., M.D/DO., or equivalent terminal degree
• Evidence of substantial formal training in bioethics, medical ethics, and/or humanities

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following additional attributes:
• Experience teaching bioethics and humanities for medical students, residents, and/or graduate
students.
• Experience in teaching other basic, clinical, or health system sciences
• Experience leading or assisting in the delivery of courses to medical students and/or graduate
students
• Formal training or experience in educational theory, instructional design, and/or evaluation and
assessment
• A track record of scholarship related to their terminal degree or medical education
• Experience with computer or simulation-based instructional methods

Physician candidates applying who are interested in practicing medicine must be Board Certified
( ABMS recognized), must qualify for an unrestricted Alabama Medical License, or must agree to obtain an unrestricted Alabama Medical License within 2 years of employment.

The Whiddon College of Medicine is part of the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama.
